This will allow the candle to create a wide burn pool and melt evenly. As the candle melts down, it will create a burn pool to the edges of the glass. This is the desired effect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA successive number of short burns may create a tunneling effect. Tunneling happens when the candle is extinguished after short burns and is not able to create a wide burn pool. If this does happen it can often be set right by leaving the length of the wick longer by not trimming it prior to burning.
